Southwark Mediation Centre are running a 5 day OCN (Open College Network) Accredited Mediation Training course in January (subject to minimum attendance numbers being met). The dates will be 15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th January. The venue will be in SE16, close to London Bridge and Bermondsey tube station. There will be two options –
Option 1 Key Mediation Skills (3 credits at level 3) – £950
This option involves a practical assessment, reflective log and one piece of written work completed during the course
Option 2 – Level 3 Award in Understanding Mediation (6 credits at level 3) Ofqual recognised qualification – £1200.
In addition to the practical assessment during the course, candidates who wish to attain this qualification will need to complete a written portfolio to be submitted for assessment within 2 months of the end of the course.
The course will be taught by two highly experienced mediators and trainers:
Dave Walker MBE, who is one of the most experienced mediators in the UK with 30 years’ experience of mediating
Anne Jones who has 16 years’ experience in the mediation field and is former CEO of Merton and Sutton Mediation
The emphasis will be on practical skills and experience through role play based on many years of dealing with conflict in local communities. Some written work is required, depending on which Option is undertaken.
On completion of either course you will be eligible to join the College of Mediators as a Trained Mediator in Community Mediation and receive all the benefits of College of Mediators membership. See www.collegeofmediators.co.uk for more information.
